Andrea Abel is a third year student from Hungary studying at Bard Conservatory of Music with Dr. Tara Helen O’Connor.  Alongside pursuing her degree in music performance, she is conducting multidisciplinary studies as her second major, focusing on composing, poetry and performance studies. During her studies with Eszter Horgas at the Leo Weiner Conservatory in Budapest, she performed regularly as a soloist with the Budapest String Orchestra and in the Hungarian Bartok Radio. As a winner of the Talent Prague competition, she performed her solo debut with the Prague Philharmonia in 2017. Andrea has won special first prize at the X. National Chamber Music Competition with her trio, performing her own arrangement of D. Shostahovich, Piano trio no. 1, as well as receiving first place on the Weiner Conservatory’s bi-yearly Concerto Competition both times as a student.  She is a recipient of the Laszlo Z. Bito scholarship during her studies at Bard.
